In addition to research and development related to its products, the Austrian paper industry conducts a series of cooperative research projects of more comprehensive interest. This work is conducted at university institutes and research facilities. In seeking solutions to special problems, suppliers are also involved. The main focus is on topics in an area between basic research and applied technology usually not addressed by research institutes and too expensive for individual companies to explore.
